Welcome to 5 Red!
In 5 Red, students are encouraged to be independent, self-motivated learners who strive to achieve their personal goals. With the help of technology, students are learning to become future-focused learners who are equipped with the skills they will need in the 21st Century.
Welcome to 5 Red
Dear parents and caregivers,
This year in 5 Red we will meet the needs of each and every child by immersing them in future-focused learning. We are fortunate enough to work in a setting in which each child will have a laptop and complete most tasks using Microsoft ClassNotebook. We will also be exploring ways to engage students by offering flexible work spaces once our classroom is ready; after unfortunately sustaining water damage in the holidays.
Although the learning processes are new and exciting, the high level of student expectations will be upheld. Students will be challenged to become more critical thinkers and deliver samples of work that they will be proud of.
Things to know:
Absences: If your child has a day off school please either call the school / send in a note explaining why they were away on their first day back at school or join our class on SeeSaw and message me via the SeeSaw app. It is an important legal requirement that we have explanations for every absence.
Homework: Homework will be handed out every Monday and collected on Friday.
Sport: School sport and PSSA will take place between recess and lunch on Fridays. Students need to wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Students are required to bring a drink bottle and a hat.
Library: Students are able to borrow and return books each week. Our school library includes a fantastic range of books for varying interests and abilities. If students wish to borrow books, library bags are essential to protect them against damage.
Sun Safety: Please encourage your child to bring a hat and bottle of water to school every day to stay safe in the sun.
Crunch and sip: Every day in the morning session children are able to eat their crunch and sip, to maintain a healthy balanced diet.
Breakfast Club: Breakfast club will be open EVERY morning this year between 8:25 and 8:45am. Students are able to enjoy a choice of cereal and toast for breakfast to start the day ready and focused on learning.
Food: At Lethbridge Park Public School, we have students and staff with peanuts allergies. Please be aware of this when packing your child’s lunch and please avoid packing products and spreads that contain peanuts.
Assembly: Assembly will be held every even week on a Friday afternoon, after lunch, starting at 2pm.
I am excited to see what the year brings, as are all the students of 5 Red.
If you have any specific questions or concerns pertaining to your child, please feel free to make an appointment with me to organise a convenient time to meet.
Kind regards,
Mr Richard Clarke
