K 1 Purple

Term 2 in K/1 Purple!

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

We have had a fantastic start to the year in K/1 Purple. All students have settled in well and are well underway with some amazing learning experiences.

During Term 1 students have had a focus on sea life and many of our learning expreiences have been centred around this.

During Term 2 the theme for learning in K/1 Purple is Minibeasts. Students are having a wonderful time learning about all the different features of insects and exploring some amazing stories and artworks!

For those who are new to the class or the website, there are a few details about our class listed below.

Crunch and Sip: K/1 Purple will have crunch and sip every day at about 9am to make sure our brains and bodies are fuelled up and ready for learning. Please ensure your child brings a piece of fresh fruit or a vegetable each day. If your child requires their fruit peeled or cut, please do this at home.

Recess and Lunch Orders: These can be ordered at the canteen before school. Children go to the canteen to collect their recess orders and at lunch, helpers bring their food to them.

Library: K/1 Purple students are able to attend the library at lunch time 5 days a week and are able to borrow books if they have a library bag with them.

Sport: K/1 Purple will do fitness on Tuesdays and sport on Thursdays. Please ensure appropriate footwear is worn on these days and that students have a hat to wear.

Home Readers: Home Readers can be returned everyday.

Homework: Homework is given out on Monday and returned on Friday.

Days off School: If your child has a day off school please call the school or send a note explaining why they were away on their first day back at school. It is an important legal requirement that we have explanations for every absence.

Contact: We understand that Kindergarten is an especially exciting year for you and your child. Please feel free to approach me to discuss any concerns or pass on any information you think I should know about your child. You are always welcome to come and ask how your child is going. Afternoons are best for communication as lessons are prepared in the morning but urgent information can be passed on any time and you can make an appointment with me if you need a longer or more private conversation.

Kindest Regards,

Karen McDonell – K/1 Purple Teacher
