Happy Easter!

Hello, 4-6 Yellow and welcome to Week 11 of Learning!

Below you will find our timetable for the week as well as a video showing you all the resources found inside your work pack! Take your time to watch this video and look through all the resources in your work pack before you begin your learning for the day!

Check back for new videos, each day. Keep the counters, dice, paddle pop sticks and your readers for now, as you will need them for this week's learning! Happy learning for the final week before the school holidays!

Ready to start the day?

  • Take your time to wash your hands with soap and water before starting the day.
  • Get out your yellow folder, remove all equipment and place on the table.
  • Have a bottle or glass of water near you.
  • Practice breathing in and out using your five fingers and get ready to learn!

Morning Meeting

  • Look at a calendar and put your finger on today’s day and date.
  • Say aloud: Today is _________ (name of the day), the date is ______________, 2020.
  • Check out the window near you for the weather. Say aloud: What is today’s weather?
  • There are ________ days to the weekend.
  • Share what you have learnt from yesterday or from the weekend.
  • Sight word booklet/spelling words form: 
    • Practice reading your 3 sight words and complete at least 2 activities on sheet.
    • Practice reading your spelling words and write them down into your booklet.

Movement Break

Choose two activities to complete from the Movement Choiceboard

Maths

  • Choose two activities to complete from the Maths Choiceboard.
  • Complete one of four maths activities to complete. Do a different activity each day.

Crunch & Sip / Relax

  • Eat fruit or vegetables and have a drink of water. Remember to take your time to wash your hands after having crunch and sip.
  • Take a break for 10 minutes. Move out of the chair for a while!

Movement Break

  • Choose two activities to complete from the Movement Choiceboard.

Literacy

  • Choose two activities to complete from the Literacy Choiceboard.
  • Complete one of four Literacy activities to complete. One different activity per day.

Recess

Reading & Responding

  • Read a book to yourself or aloud to someone using one of the readers provided. 
  • Use My Story Flow Map to record the beginning, middle and end of the story for the book that you have read today.

  • 3 to 6 readers (in yellow folder)

Writing Booklet

  • Look at a choice of pictures and read the words near them.
  • Write sentences to describe the choice of picture you see on the page.
  • Use clear sentences like “I see a dog.” “It is a little dog with big ears and brown fur.” “The dog likes to chase after cars on the road.” “I have a dog and a bird at home”.
  • To be more creative, write a story about the picture into your booklet. Can include different characters, names and story location!

  2. Complete an activity from the 4/6 Yellow ‘End of Learning’ sheet.

  • WELL DONE!  You have completed all your work!

Literacy - My Writing Booklet

Are you working hard on making great sentences and creative writing through your writing booklet? Watch this video to get some ideas on how to use the pictures shown on your writing booklet to develop your best neat writing!

 

Numeracy - Maths Choiceboard Board Games

Do you notice some board games in your work packs? Here's a video to show everyone in 4-6 Yellow how to play 'Place Value Match'. You can play this game on your own or with the family at home!

Tuesday

Physical Education - Movement Break Choiceboard

Sitting down on your chair working with your work packs for a long time can make us feel tired. Are you ready to re-energise with some movement? Here are two movement activities that you can do inside the home or outside in the backyard!

 

Key Learning Area Choiceboard - Easter Challenge

Are you feeling creative and getting into the Easter spirit? Put your artistic brain into action with this Easter Challenge! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's craft and hats for the Easter Parade! 

Wednesday

Creative Arts - Making your own Easter Basket

Busy making your Easter hat for the Easter Hat Parade? There is also printouts inside your work pack that you can use to make your very own Easter basket. Watch this video so we can make our Easter baskets together!

Numeracy - 'Go Fish' & 'Clocks'

Have some playing cards ready to go. Test your knowledge of numbers with a game of 'Go Fish', with another player!

If there is a card game you're looking to play on your own, I'll share with you a game of 'Clocks' - a card game that my grandmother taught me!

Thursday

Geography - Exploring Australian Landmarks with Google Earth

In your work pack, you will have five different pictures of Australian landmarks to find on the world map. Can you find all five using Google Earth? Is there any more Australian landmarks that we have missed?

Having a Growth Mindset - End of Day Mindfulness

Every day that you finish working from home, it is always a good idea to refresh and reflect on our day by engaging in some mindful listening exercises. Join with me as we end our learning day and relax our 'working mind' and turn that into a 'smiling mind'!
