This morning the NSW Premier, Gladys Berijiklian, announced that whilst schools will remain open parents are asked to keep their children at home. Schools will be moving to one model of education delivery so that students will have access to the same resources and units of work whether they are at school or at home.
These decisions are being made by the National Cabinet to protect NSW citizens and I strongly encourage parents to follow this advice.
At Lethbridge Park Public School staff will still be on site and supervision will be provided for students for whom there is no viable alternative other than to attend school. Classes may not be conducted in the same way as we are accustomed to whilst allowing support to be provided for students who are accessing learning remotely.
School administrative functions will continue, however the canteen will not operate during this period.
Our model of learning will include:
- Students in years K-2 will be provided with learning resources today for this week, and further contact will be made via telephone to follow up with each family and to arrange a time to bring back work for marking and to collect a new unit of work.
- Students in year 3-6 will move to an online model, with details of how to access these via the “remote learning” tab on our school website.
- Teachers will follow up with families by telephone to monitor progress and to ensure access to learning resources.
- Parents with questions about student learning and academic progress can call the school and a staff member will return calls within 24 hours.
It is anticipated that these arrangements will be in place for the rest of this term. During this time it is vitally important that we have accurate phone contact details for all of our families – if your number has changed please contact the office.
As further plans are developed we will be publishing these on our school website. Links to learning resources and units of work by following the Remote Learning link at the top of this page.
