Requesting external services

Lethbridge Park Public School acknowledges the significant role of external providers in delivering allied health, disability, wellbeing, and behaviour support services that facilitate and enhance student participation in schooling.

The NSW Department of Education requires all externally funded service providers delivering allied health, disability, wellbeing, and behaviour support services to students in NSW public schools to understand their roles and responsibilities in keeping students safe. All providers must read the Department of Education’s  Fact sheet for providers on mandatory child protection roles and responsibilities.

To meet curriculum requirements and ensure the best outcomes for both students and the school, external providers may attend Lethbridge Park Public School on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between 11:30am and 1:15pm.

It is the parent’s responsibility to notify providers if their child will be absent from school or if a school activity is scheduled on the day support is planned.

School bell times can be found  here

Please ensure you read the External Providers Checklist for Providers in full. This checklist outlines all documents and requirements that must be met by external providers. Each requirement must be completed before submitting any documents to the school. Please note that these checks and requirements are set by the Department of Education.

To engage external therapist support at Lethbridge Park Public School:

Step 1:

Parents  please fill in a  parent request form  and return to the office.

Please read the Parent and Carers Fact Sheet  from the Department of Education.

If the school is in agreement with the request, progress to step 2.

  Step 2:

The school office then contacts the therapist requesting all documents.

Therapists  must complete and return via email:

  1. External Provider Engagement Agreement
  2. External Providers Checklist

Therapists  must provide evidence of:

  1. Government issued photo ID (Driver's License)
  2. Mandatory Child Protection Training Certificate
  3. Workers Compensation (unless provider is a sole trader)
  4. Professional Indemnity for at least $2 million
  5. Public Liability for at least $20 million

Please note: Providers under the Specialist Allied Health and Behaviour Support Provider Scheme have already satisfied this requirement as part of the Scheme’s pre-qualification process. Re-submission to the school is not required. The required insurances must be in the name of the provider, not in the name of the individual therapists engaged by the provider.

  2. Controversial issues in schools policies and procedures
  3. Allegations against Employees in the area of child protection

Step 3:

Once all required documentation and evidence from external providers have been submitted to the school office, these will be forwarded to the Principal for approval. Following the Principal’s decision, the school office will notify the therapist, teacher, and parent of the outcome via email. Therapy sessions may commence once a suitable time has been negotiated.

Therapy is not to commence until therapists have received an email or phone call approving the request.
This process is to be completed at the beginning of each school year and expires at the end of that calander year.
